BSK Model

What’s the story behind the name BSK Model?
BSK stands for ByeongSoo Kim.
He was born in South Korea and began building scale models at the young age of six.
Scale modeling has been a source of inspiration and creativity throughout his life, shaping his perspective and offering him a new way of seeing the world.
He has contributed his works to books and magazines published by AK Interactive, a renowned modeling publisher based in Spain.
Through his active presence on Facebook, he has connected with scale modelers from around the world and made his name known internationally.
BSK Model was named after him — a brand that carries not only his name, but also his pride and sense of responsibility.
He hoped that more people would find joy in scale modeling.
He introduced the hobby to many and helped make it more accessible for newcomers, ensuring that even beginners could take their first steps with confidence.
But he also faced a dilemma.
Photo-etched (PE) parts were difficult for many to use, and the average age of scale model enthusiasts was gradually rising.
He discovered new possibilities through 3D printing,
and in 2019, he launched the world’s first 3D-printed “German clamp set” through MJ Miniatures.
Crafted from a flexible material, the clamps significantly reduced the risk of breakage.
They also addressed a key limitation of traditional photo-etched (PE) parts — the lack of realistic, three-dimensional detail.
What’s more, unlike PE parts that required multiple components to be glued together with super glue, these new parts could simply be cut out with an art knife or nipper and assembled with ease — all while delivering superior detail.
Though the beginning may have been humble,
we firmly believe that his passion and ideas will make a meaningful difference for scale modelers around the world.
